For me, these are the best Ghica works and best gift ever.

I wonder if other famous painters had masterpieces that we never ever saw, because they were private gifts for friends so we didn’t have the privilege to enjoy them…

reach the unreachable star

May 25, 2009

My birthday is drawing close. So a friend of mine asked me what I whish for.

And it struck me like lightning: NOTHING!

It’s not a lack of drive, I’m not bitter or anything… I just feel like I have everything! No shitting!

At least no material things.

I discovered I can achieve anything I set my mind to do. I have friends to rely on and thank God, enough money to pay for problems to be solved.

My health is quite good, my wardrobe is spectacular.

A few physical improvements that I’ll take care by the end of the year…

In time, I’m sure I’ll have the home of my dreams, I believe I’ll see all the places I fantasize about, I’ll enjoy the holidays I want, and anything I can’t even imagine now.

Because by now I know my life is more spectacular than I could ever picture or plan.

Cheers!

I thought of gathering a few lovely versions of one of my favorite songs.

In 1965, the musical Roar of the Greasepaint – the Smell of the Crowd opened.

The voice belongs to Mr. Price, just 23 at the time, and turning one song immortal!

little everyday pleasures

May 9, 2009

There’s a blog that gave me the idea. Some of the following are ripped off directly from the source of inspiration, some are my own personal little treats.

I never get enough of pampering myself, however there are little things that make me smile. Not once I said I thank God for giving me the gift to enjoy so many things…

No surprise, some of them involve my cats, some smells, colors, tastes.

I open my eyes and very often I start laughing because at least one of my cats looks funny. It’s a privilege to begin the day with a burst of laughter or a tender smile.

I don’t even have to look for them, usually they are very close, staring at me or sleeping in impossible stances.

The first sip of espresso. First drag. The joy of having HOT water. Who lived in communism understands.

The joy of slipping in my shoes. They make me happy – with bright colors or exquisite design.

Unexpectedly, George Michael or Freddie on the radio… Any of their tunes…

Green lights all the way or inviting free lanes…

A parking space close to the office, just right for my parking skills and my small vehicle.

Discovering a new idea, a new place, a new band, a new friend…

Biting from a peach, crushing raspberry with my tongue.

The scent of my pajamas, the cool embrace from my cover and my pillow. The two seconds I wait for my cats to surround me in bed.

And more, expected or unexpected, in my rich beautiful life.

color of the day

April 26, 2009

did you ever have that feeling that one day should have a color?

I think yesterday was the same color as my new OPI nail polish, which coincidentally is VERY similar to the color and shine of my sweet laptop ;)

A shiny fuchsia filled with smile, warmth, friends, pampering gifts and caring gestures.

A fulfilling compensation for a rather weird week.

Maybe the earth shook to rearrange a few wrong pieces of the puzzle…

back from Paradise

April 21, 2009

I’m supposed to be a decent writer. At least people tell me I am.

But there are things beyond words, things that fill your heart with a bouquet of feelings that words can’t grasp.

I spent the Easter holiday in a heavenly retreat where the cell phones can’t penetrate, where I rejected TV or any other aggressive intrusions from the mundane.

I listened to people with beautiful minds share their views on various things…

I laughed my head off with people who are professional entertainers, but now they were entertaining friends.

I ate probably the best food in years. Simple, clean, natural. It was full of taste, nutritious and… lovable. Yes, food can be lovable.

Though I moved my ass only from the restaurant to bed to boat to another restaurant to the chaise longue, I didn’t gain 1 gram.

All I heard was laughter, happy people, good music, frogs and mocking birds…

Though there were atrocious amounts of various spirits available, I didn’t feel like drinking. I didn’t want anything to numb my senses.

I didn’t want to miss any of the splendors around me.

I was telling Anca that I think the views that impressed me most in life were Sagrada Familia and the Danube Delta.

God was definitely supervising both projects!

digging 4 treasures

April 16, 2009

As I said before, I’m digging for music as I feel I’m listening to the same old things for too long.

I think there’s a lot of music there that waits to be exposed.

Due to Last.fm, exploration becomes pretty easy.

So just in one week I found two amazing bands. One has been around for a while, the other is more recent.

Bear with me. I don’t consider their performance ground breaking. It feels like there’s not much to be said in music. But they sound good and I’d like to recommend them further.

Until I found the first one, I had a law: “nobody is allowed to play Freddie’s music, but Freddie. And maybe George Michael. ”

Well… now there’s an exception. Those guys can say it differently. I dare to say… better.

Trivia:

The name “Breaking Benjamin” comes from Benjamin Burnley’s early solo experience. Burnley was covering a Nirvana song during an open-mic night at a club when he finished he dropped the microphone to the ground, breaking it.

The person who owned the microphone came on stage and said, ‘Thanks to Benjamin for breaking my f***ing mic.

Last year I fell in love with Nickelback. I’d love to see them live someday.

And here’s something I might bitchy call a tribute band, just that… I like them more than the original.

They were actually discovered and signed by Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger. Their value is acknowledged, so don’t blame me!
